Aerated concrete is one of the most common materials in the Leningrad Region. It retains heat well, but has specifics to consider when designing underfloor heating.
AAC D400–D500 has a thermal conductivity of 0.10–0.14 W/(m·°C) — 4–5× lower than brick. A 375 mm D400 wall is thermally equivalent to 1.5 m of brick.
A 120 m² house from D400 375 mm + 50 mm mineral wool has calculated heat losses of 45–55 W/m². Underfloor heating at 200 mm pitch and 35–38 °C supply easily covers this.
If walls are under-insulated, losses grow. Underfloor heating alone caps at a floor surface temperature of 28–29 °C (per SNiP). Optimal losses for standalone operation — ≤80 W/m².
