Snow cover lasts 4–5 months in the Leningrad Region. With normative load 180 kg/m² a 100 m² roof can hold 18 tonnes of snow. Avalanching off smooth metal roofing rips gutters, damages cars and entries, hurts people.
SP 17.13330.2017 requires snow guards on roofs steeper than 5° in zones from 120 kg/m². The Leningrad Region (180 kg/m²) clearly applies. Legally: if snow from your roof damages a neighbour or injures someone, you bear full responsibility (Art. 1064 of the Civil Code).
Tubular — most common and universal. Two steel tubes (25–32 mm) on brackets, 150–200 mm tall. Releases snow in portions, killing avalanche energy.
Grid — steel grid 150–200 mm. Holds snow and small ice fully. For long slopes. 30–50% pricier than tubular.
Angle (plate) — triangular plates 40–60 mm. Cheapest, weakest. Only for slopes ≤30° and ≤4 m. Not recommended as primary in the region.
Bugel (point) — small metal/plastic pieces in chequer pattern. For shingles, fitted during install.

Distance from eave: 350–500 mm from the eave overhang, never at the very edge — fix point should be on/near the load wall to transfer load there, not to the overhang.
Bracket spacing: zone III, 30° pitch, 6 m slope — max 800 mm; 8 m slope — max 600 mm; 10 m slope — second row required.
Fixing: 70–100 mm screws into battens (not into the roofing!), with rubber gaskets. On metal tile — into the lower wave.
Formula: Q = L × sin(α) × S. Example: 6 m slope, 35°: Q = 6 × 0.574 × 180 = 619 kg/lin.m. One tubular guard holds up to 300 kg/lin.m at 800 mm spacing — so two rows are needed. Slopes >5 m at >30° almost always need a second row. Row spacing 2.5–3.5 m.

Compare to the cost of guards around a 10×10 m house: 25 000–60 000 ₽ (tubular, one row, ~30 lin.m). The math is obvious.
