A fence is the first thing visitors see and the last thing many people think about when building. Yet the right choice affects security, wind and noise protection, aesthetics and even relations with neighbours. Below — main fence types relevant for the Leningrad Region with cost and characteristics.
Corrugated metal sheet — popularity leader. Solid wall, blocks wind and views. C8/C10/C20 grades. Polyester coating 15–20 yrs, Pural 30–40 yrs.
Euro-picket (metal slats) — imitates wooden picket. With gap (semi-transparent) or staggered (almost solid). Far more attractive than corrugated.
3D welded mesh — fully transparent panels. Modern look, maintenance-free, popular in cottage settlements.
Wooden fence — classic warm look. Needs antiseptic and paint every 3–5 years.
Brick posts + sections — premium. Requires strip foundation.
Gabions — wire baskets filled with stone. Trendy, no foundation, virtually eternal.

Point (post) — most common. Concreted in pits. 800–1 500 ₽ per post.
Strip — 40–60 cm deep, 20–30 cm wide. Mandatory for brick. 2 500–4 000 ₽/m.
None — for light fences on dense soils.
Steel tube 60×60 mm for fences up to 2 m, 80×80 mm for taller and gates. Burial depth: 1.2–1.5 m — below the freezing depth (1.0–1.2 m), otherwise frost heave will push the post out. Spacing 2.5–3.0 m.
Pedestrian gate — 8 000–15 000 ₽
Swing gate (3–4 m) — 22 000–35 000 ₽
Sliding gate (3–5 m) — 55 000–90 000 ₽
Automation — extra 35 000–65 000 ₽
Max 2.0 m height on the road side; solid permitted
