The gas boiler is the heart of the heating system. Its type, power and features define comfort, fuel use and service life. The 2026 market offers dozens of models — this guide covers every key choice from burner type to gas connection in the Leningrad Region.
Wall-hung. Compact (60–80 cm), 25–45 kg, 12–35 kW. Ideal for up to 250–300 m². Pump, expansion tank and safety group built in.
Floor-standing. 50–120 kg, separate boiler room, 20–100+ kW. For 200 m²+. Pump, tank and automation usually bought separately.
For most houses of 80–200 m² in the Leningrad Region, a wall-hung boiler is optimal.
Single-circuit — heating only; a separate indirect cylinder for hot water. Best for houses with 2+ bathrooms.
Dual-circuit — heating + DHW, switches on demand. Convenient for one-bathroom houses up to 12–14 L/min.
Conventional — 88–92% efficiency, flue gases at 120–180 °C.
Condensing — 97–108% (nominal, LHV basis), uses latent heat of vapour condensation, flue at 50–70 °C. Peak performance with underfloor heating. 30–60% pricier, pays back in 3–5 years.
Boiler power = Area × 0.1 kW × 1.2. The 1.2 factor covers peak −30 °C frosts.

For poorly insulated houses use 1.3–1.5 instead of 1.2. Don’t oversize — an oversized boiler short-cycles, loses efficiency and wears faster.
